Describe Yourself:An very opinionated person. Living with 5 women for over 30 years, I haven't gotten to talk much. So Gather is letting me unleash.
I love to read SF, Mysteries, Bio's, Fantasies, newspapers, magazines, even the side of cereal boxes.
But while I am reading I am making comments, thinking, making new opinions, or defending my own.
My favorite subjects to discuss or read are Politics, Books, TV, Movies, Music, almost anything. -

Erik Lambert, Sep 24, 2011, 12:32PM EDTIt's the beauty of being a sports fan, Chick. You get to talk to people who might not share your opinion but still love talking about it anyway. Please don't stop commenting. I always welcome your input.

Brett C., Jun 13, 2011, 11:39AM EDTChick,
Thanks for your comments on my Genre Shortie posts.
Regarding Pynchon, you might try, first, a shorter, early novel:
CRYING LOT OF 49

Brett C., Apr 8, 2011, 1:47PM EDTStart with GRAVITY'S RAINBOW. It's a tall assignment--from the standpoint of time commitment.
He won the Genius McCarther (sp.?) Foundation award, for the book.
Some years ago, "The Economist" readers voted it the greatest book of the 20th century.
The basic theme, or brief summary of the plot, is rediculous and hilarious......and it's hard to believe that such a theme would bring forth a magnum opus.
But, of course, did we ever think that a slave and a young boy, on a raft, would be one of the greatest, if not the greatest, American novel of all time?
When I get the chance, I'll have more to say.
Thanks for the offer of Gather friendship..... -

David K., Jan 8, 2011, 1:20PM ESTHi Chick. Where did you even see the article? I messed up earlier and hit the submit button instead of the save as draft button, then deleted it when I realized my mistake. I actually haven't finished writing it yet so hopefully it isn't hanging out there in Gather purgatory.
Sorry for the confusion. Hoping to get it up today or tomorrow. -
Bill's Spirit, Nov 8, 2010, 2:19PM ESTThanks for the connection request, Chick. It was gladly accepted.
And a big thank you for sharing the news about "Caprica."
I'll be doing what I can to help save the show. Although a bit draggy in spots, I've been really enjoying it overall; and I've been anxiously awaiting to see more. I hope SyFy can be persuaded to change their mind.
My Best To You
